Make Poverty History Campaign
Today is the “National Day of Action to End Child Poverty in Canada”. OECTA is a member of the “Campaign 2000” coalition and supports the work of both groups to eradicate child poverty by the year 2000.
There is an active campaign in over 50 countries addressing the following concerns:
- More and better aid
- Make trade fair
- Cancel the debt
- In Canada, the campaign also includes ending child poverty in Canada.
In Kingston, a vigil will be held at City Hall at 5 p.m. today. Everyone is welcome to attend. A rally was held on Parliament Hill this morning.
To register your support for action to eliminate child poverty, go to http://www.makepovertyhistory.ca and sign on to the campaign.
“If everyone who wants to see an end to poverty, hunger and suffering speaks out, then the noise will be deafening. Politicians will have to listen.”
