Stephen Lewis addressed the delegates at AGM 2007. His passionate presentation dealt with unchecked violence against women and girls around the world. Mr. Lewis quoted the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon from International Women’s Day 2007, “… violence against women and girls makes its hideous imprint on every continent, country and culture. It doesn’t care about your income, class, race or ethnic background. It takes a devastating toll on women’s lives, on their families and on society as a whole. It is a threat to all women and should be unacceptable to all humankind.”
Mr. Lewis’ address is available by e-mail requests at www.easternontariooecta@on.aibn.com

Workshop – Engaging Parents: Improving Student Achievement
This is an interactive workshop created by the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario (CPCO), the Ontario Association of Parents in Catholic Education (OAPCE), and OECTA with Ministry funding for its design, development and delivery. The goal of the workshop is to support the Catholic school system by reaching out to parents, especially those who belong to socioeconomic, geographic and cultural groups that face barriers in becoming involved in the education of their children. Positive parental involvement will strengthen the Catholic school system.
