ROCK ON
Celebrating the twenty-first year of the OECTA Bonspiel, teams hollered, hooted and cheered when a shot was made on Saturday, February 10th.
St. James had first place all sewed up with Henry Balder, Cathy Kinch, Cheryl Volk and
Tina Champagne. Henry was an excellent skip keeping his team members’ shots accurate and deadly. Henry had placed second last year so was excited at coming in first. Coming in second was the rink of Bev Lee, Sue Thomas, Rick Fraser and Tachalynn Waugh. Rick was heard to say that he was honoured to play with such a bevy of beauties on the ice. The team of
Jason Peckham, Des McKenna, John McKenty and Gene Clarke were overjoyed to come in third.
The most honest winners were the education assistants representing St. Francis de Sales.
Liz Harrison, Cathy Millar, Irene Tweedle and Lisa McNamee always make this annual event to enjoy everyone’s company.
The McDinted Cup (most enthusiastic player) went to Tashalynn Waugh, a first time curler. She will be back for sure.
The Bev Lee Memorial donated by the late Ann McGahey Trophy (most improved) went to the team of Rick and Harriet Soudat and Brian and Marion Letts. Somehow, they manage to bring home a trophy each year. We will definitely have to add another trophy next year as they have won every one.
Thanks go out to OECTA and the Principal’s Association for their sponsorship of this Bonspiel. All had a great time on and off the ice while they visited, curled and enjoyed tasty things to eat.
Thanks again to Bev Lee for coordinating the 21th annual bonspiel.
