Occasional Special General Meeting
Tuesday, September 28, 2004, 5:00 pm

  2. Opening Remarks
    There was recognition and thanks attributed to Francis Scholten for his years of work as President, Occasional Teacher.
  1. Elections
    1. One individual put his name forward for Office of President, Steve Kirby.
      Remarks by Steve Kirby outlining his past experiences at Toronto Secondary Unit, Provincial OECTA and his desire to work for occasional teachers here in the Eastern Unit
    2. No further nominations were received from the floor
    3. MOTION:
      1. That Steve Kirby be acclaimed as Occasional President.
      2. Moved by: Peter Peckham, Seconded by: Norma Bellamy
        CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
    4. Election of other Officers, no nominations were forthcoming
    5. O.T. President Steve Kirby indicated he would endeavour to recruit others to assist him with various activities and OT’s would also try to coordinate with unit events

  3. Social Events - Renegades Football Game, Volleyball, Annual Curling Bonspiel and Golf Tournament, Retirement Dinners – see website for dates
  4. Collective Bargaining Update
    Francis Scholten, Ann McGahey and Bernie Dupuis developed the proposal.
    Bernie Dupuis will contact our new Occasional President, Steve Kirby, to review the proposal and set dates for bargaining with the Board.
    Regional Collective Bargaining Seminar – November 18th and November 19th, 2004
  5. Other Issues
    Principal signature required for getting on the Occasional Teacher list, particularly difficult for new occasional teachers to the area.
    There was discussion about the past practice and the problems experienced by teachers.
